Taper is a completely different little backup program.
I tried it some ages ago and dropped it immediately as it seems it
couldn't handle very large backups (I don't remember wheather it was data
size or the amount of files but anyway). It shouldn't have anything to do
with mt, tar or amanda (except that it *maybe* uses mt..).
