This is almost assuredly not an amanda problem. We (in the FreeBSD
community) saw this back in FreeBSD 3.2 (I think -- memory's hazy on those
details, and I haven't time to check the archives right now), and the
problem appeared to be correlated with inetd at the time. (For example,
we would see it pop up on our local CVS server.)
FWIW, I also see it occasionally on my amanda server (running FreeBSD
4.1.1-STBALE as of 29 September, at the moment).
I suggest attacking this from the FreeBSD side of things....
