This looks like a dump issue
does dumping the file systems by hand work ?
(To /dev/null )
Are you dumping the raw disks as apposed to the block devices.
(Or does the Linux dump do the conversion correctly ?)
are the disks quiet or active while being dumped ?
You should also contact the group marinating the dump program
as the problem is deffinetly there :-)
