I'm having a strange problem trying to setup the amanda-2.4.2 client on a
Red Hat Linux 6.0 box (called Scribe).

After installing the .amandahosts file in operator's home directory, and
adding the line to /etc/inetd.conf:

amanda dgram udp wait operator /usr/local/libexec/amandad \
 amandad

Then I "killall -HUP inetd", and on the tape server box, "su operator" and
"amcheck -c can", I get:

=============================
Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
WARNING: scribe: selfcheck request timed out. Host down?
Client check: 3 hosts checked in 30.047 seconds, 1 problem found

(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.2)
=============================

On Scribe, in /var/log/messages I see:

Dec 22 14:51:24 scribe inetd[387]: /usr/local/libexec/amandad: exit status
0x1

What's driving me nuts is that as you can see when I run the client check,
there are three hosts configured in disklist. They're all Linux boxes,
and I configured and installed amanda on all three the same day and the
same way (except for the tape server, where I didn't use
"--without-server" like I did for the other two).

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike
