The filesystem got bigger... And now it's dumping straight to the
tape. When this happens the dump fails.

BINGO !
The last time I've upgraded the machine I made a stupid mistake:
Forgot to define the lo0 interface.
But It only brought problems when the dumps got bigger and taper was
referred as localhost.
