I asked about this a few weeks ago, but the solutions that where provided
have not fully helped. So I figured I would resend my question. After a
Hard Disk failure on my Amanda Tape server, I rebuilt the system, and
Installed the latest release of Red Hat (7.0), and the latest RPM for Amanda
(amanda-client-2.4.1p1-18, amanda-2.4.1p1-18, amanda-server-2.4.1p1-18).

When amcheck runs, it does not report any problems, and this is what
/tmp/amanda/selfcheck.debug contains on sol:

--[snip]--
selfcheck: debug 1 pid 2692 ruid 501 euid 501 start time Wed Dec 27 09:55:22
2000
/usr/lib/amanda/selfcheck: version 2.4.1p1
checking disk hda7: device /var: OK
checking disk hda6: device /usr: OK
checking disk hda5: device /usr/home: OK
checking disk hda1: device /: OK
selfcheck: pid 2692 finish time Wed Dec 27 09:55:24 2000
--[snip]--

But when amanda goes to run at night, I get a dump failure, and the
following output in my email.

--[snip]--
>
> FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY:

when I looked in /tmp/amanda/sendsize.tmp I see this:

--[snip]--
calculating for amname 'hda6', dirname '/usr'
sendsize: getting size via gnutar for hda6 level 0
sendsize: missing exclude list file "/usr/local/lib/amanda/exclude.gtar"
discarded
sendsize: running "/usr/lib/amanda/runtar --create --directory
/usr --listed-incremental /var/lib/amanda/gnutar-lists/solhda6_0.ne
w --sparse --one-file-system --ignore-failed-read --totals --file /dev/null
."
runtar: error [must be invoked by operator]
--[snip]--

So according to this, runtar has to be called by the user operator. But the
user that amanda is running as is 'backup'. So how can I get runtar to run
as a different user? Is that the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.
