The first thing I'd look at is whether you have enough holding disk.
If you're dumping direct to tape from the network, it's going to seriously
affect throughput.
You can tell which backups are going through the holding disk and which
are going direct to tape by looking for "PORT-DUMP" in the amdump.NN
file(s). Those are the ones going direct to tape. Those using
"FILE-DUMP" are going into the holding disk first.
BTW, you might add this to your amanda.conf:
columnspec "OrigKB=1:8,OutKB=1:8,DumpRate=0:7,TapeRate=0:7"
This is what I use to widen the columns out so the numbers are not
running into each other.
