Hi,

I am getting the infamous amcheck "selfcheck request timed out" problem.  I am attepting to backup the server (hostname is redrox , running RH 6.2 Linux) that amanda is installed on.  I have read the FAQ on this problem and have checked out everything suggested.

This is what my /etc/inetd.conf looks like:
amanda    dgram  udp wait   amanda /usr/local/libexec  amandad

The AMANDA user is named amanda and her? home is /home/amanda, that is where .amandahosts lives. My .amandahosts file:
redrox amanda

The AMANDA user amanda user can write to /tmp because there is a amcheck.debug file there. With the following:
check: debug 1 pid 20037 ruid 512 euid 0 start time Fri Jan 12 12:44:41 2001
      2 amcheck: pid 20037 finish time Fri Jan 12 12:45:11 2001

I have made sure that amandad is executeable by the amanda user.  I did not get any errors when I did kill -SIGHUP <inetd pid>, however I get the following
when I run amcheck:
Jan 12 11:51:27 redrox inetd[383]: /usr/local/libexec (pid 19712): exit status 1
Jan 12 11:51:37 redrox inetd[383]: /usr/local/libexec (pid 19714): exit status 1
Jan 12 11:51:47 redrox inetd[383]: /usr/local/libexec (pid 19715): exit status 1

Any ideas as to what the problem might be?  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
