And I ask, why are you even considering this? As John pointed out,
hardware compression will almost never get you 2:1. More to the
point, however, the HP colorado drives do *not* do hardware compression.

To quote that page:
"4.0 GB native, up to 8.0 GB with software data compression"
So, give amanda the tape definition produced by tapetype, and, if you want
compression, use software compression (which allows amanda to plan more
accurately anyway).
