I discovered the problem yesterday afternoon. Thanks to Mitch and including Jean-Louis' ideas, I looked over my config and discovered that I was backing up the file system which holds the AMANDA holding disk! Of course things get very confused. My tip of the week: don't back up the holding disk. :-) Perhaps AMANDA could detect and warn of this condition as part of `amcheck'? Ben
