Do I understand you correctly that you're detaching the mirror and
then trying to back that up?  What makes you think the data is any more
consistent than the "live" copy?

Mirrors live at a very low level in the system, much closer to the disk
drive than the file system, for instance.  It's perfectly possible for
the file system to be in the middle of doing something at the time a
mirror is broken, and so the unattached copy is inconsistent (the same
is true of the data in the user files).

You might re-attach the mirror, let it sync, then detach it and try again.

Note that this is not an Amanda problem.  It's ufsdump that cannot handle
what it's reading, and it's a procedural issue expecting the data to
be consistent.
