Problem: Amanda has consistently failed backing up /home on svhsfiles
for the last several weeks, originally with Amanda 2.4.1, now with
2.4.2. The partition has approximately 17GB of data on it. The tape is a
DDS3 12/24GB drive. The other partitions backing up have used from
850M-3G of space on the tape before /home is started. This has not been
a problem in the past, and no changes had been made to the system,
however I've not tracked usage on /home carefully, so it truly could be
a size issue.
Steps taken so far:
1) Cleaned tape drive :)
2) Rotated in new tapes
3) Doubled the value of "length" in my tapetype generated tapetype entry
in to reflect my use of compression (gzip) - is this right, BTW? The
number is now 18860 mbytes.
4) Upgraded to 2.4.2
5) Confirmed that /home was to be backed up with compression.
6) Added four users' directories (total of appx. 4G) to exclude.list in
order to reduce total size.
(Hopefully) Relevant Info:
