Hi all!

I wish to restore a file on the client (stanley) and the server is hall.
When I run :

amrecover -C stanley -s hall.domain.org -d /dev/nst0

It does not complain about anything and lets me specifify which files to
restore but then when I try and extract them this happens :

amrecover> add file1
Added /file1
amrecover> extract

Extracting files using tape drive /dev/nst0 on host stanley.
The following tapes are needed: tape00

Restoring files into directory /fred
Continue? [Y/n]:

Load tape tape00 now
Continue? [Y/n]:
EOF, check amidxtaped.debug file on stanley.
amrecover: short block 0 bytes
UNKNOWN file
amrecover: Can't read file header
extract_list - child returned non-zero status: 1

But sometimes it says nothing and just brings me back to the prompt without
actaully extracting the files. The contents of amidxtaped.debug is :

amidxtaped: debug 1 pid 20630 ruid 1003 euid 1003 start time Tue Feb 13 13:19:36 2001
amidxtaped: version 2.4.2
> SECURITY USER root
bsd security: remote host stanley.domain.org user root local user amanda
check failed: [access as amanda not allowed from [EMAIL PROTECTED]]
amandahostsauth failed
amidxtaped: security check failed: [access as amanda not allowed from
[EMAIL PROTECTED]] amandahostsauth failed

But on hall the common-src/security program produces the following :

Remote user: amanda
Remote host: stanley.domain.org
bsd security: remote host stanley.domain.org user amanda local user amanda
processing file: /home/amanda/.amandahosts
                 owner=amanda group=backup mode=644
processing line: <stanley.domain.org amanda>
comparing stanley.domain.org with
          stanley.domain.org (match)
      and amanda with
          amanda (match)
amandahosts security check passed
security check of [EMAIL PROTECTED] passed

The contents of my .amandahosts on hall is :

stanley.domain.org amanda
stanley.domain.org root

I hope I have made myself clear and I would be very grateful if someone could help me
out. I cannot see what I am
doing wrong. Thanks for your time.

Regards, Friedrich
