Write a simple wrapper script around amdump:
GNUTAR=/usr/freeware/bin/tar (or wherever it is)
export GNUTAR
amdump ...
I'd better rebuild Amanda, otherwise you have to define the variable
before running Amanda restore programs as well.
Also make sure your define GNUTAR before ./configure.
