amanda on macos x

Hi,

I've gotten amanda v2.4.1p1 client to build and install on Mac OS X. My problem is 
that I can't get the mac to respond to requests from the server. I can run 
"/usr/local/libexec/amandad" from the command line with out an error, but for some 
reason inetd won't spawn amandad. Does anyone have any experience with this?
