In case you know the location of the backup sets on the tapes you don't
even need Amanda to recover. You can use ssh + mt + dd + tar/restore.
Just keep tape TOCs that can be generated by amtoc elsewhere.
In case of crash you can always "grep" them.
I believe there is some documentation in doc/ regarding how to restore
without Amanda.
