You apparently wrote the tapes on the Linux system with the hardware
blocksize set to 512 bytes are are reading them on the HP system with
it set to "variable" (zero).  You have to match the two.  It might be
an "mt" command option, or it might be a separate command or it might
be a system configuration option.

I always prefer using variable (0) hardware blocking.  As far as I can
tell, non-variable is only of use when you plan on booting from a tape,
which has nothing to do with Amanda.
