Amanda has been running smoothly for months, then suddenly last night's dump
failed on all the samba shares (NT boxes) as well as the amanda host and tape
server (also the samba server).
Samba doesn't seem to be the problem, but I restarted that anyway.
amcheck results in:
Selfcheck request timed out. Host down?
I did a HUP to inetd, and the last line of amandad.debug shows:
amandad: error receiving message: timeout
I'm pretty certain that nothing much changed yesterday on this machine, so why
on earth would it suddenly get so unhappy? I've gone over the steps in
http://amanda.sourceforge.net/fom-serve/cache/16.html and it looks okay to me.
Running amandad as the amanda user ('operator') on this machine results in a 30
second delay, as it should, though I have to specify an explicit path to the
command.
Contents of inetd haven't changed:
amanda dgram udp wait operator /usr/local/libexec/amanda/amandad amandad
amandaidx stream tcp nowait operator /usr/local/libexec/amanda/amindexd amindexd
amidxtape stream tcp nowait operator /usr/local/libexec/amanda/amidxtaped
amidxtaped
Any insights, ideas, would be welcome. Please email me directly, as I just
signed up onto the mailing list and there is a delay until I will start
receiving email. If you want to see any more info, let me know.
