Good for you!  :-)  That's always the best first step.

You're a bit confused.  :-)  But this is a common thing to stumble on
for new Amanda users.

You need to create an Amanda "configuration", which translates to
a directory.  That's where you'll put your amanda.conf, disklist, and
so forth.

People usually pick configuration names that match what the backup
is doing.  For instance, I run several configurations each day that are
based on names of the divisions here, "RCD", "ICD", and so on.  So there
is a directory (they would be /etc/amanda/RCD, /etc/amanda/ICD, etc,
in your case) for each one, and put the amanda.conf and disklist in there.

Make sure your Amanda user has full access (e.g. rwx) to the configuration
directory.  The default setup will create and remove files in there
during a run.
