Yeah, this got a little confusing.  Sorry 'bout that.

My advice is to wait for Alexandre, Jean-Louis and I to stop publicly
arguing with each other :-) and come to an agreement on the fix.
Then I'll put together a single composite patch you can apply to the
stock 2.4.2p2 sources and try.
