I'm guessing that the compiler bundled with HPUX 11 is intended for
rebuilding kernels and nothing more. I tried downloading the gcc software
depot off one of the HP contributed sites, but I could not even compile a
"Hello World!" with that.

Here's a list of the things I've tried:

1. Looking for a pre-build amanda client for HPUX 11. Could not find one on
the contrib sites.
2. Building a client with the native C compiler. Didn't work for the
reasons given in this discussion.
3. Downloading the pre-compiled gnu c compiler for HPUX 11 from the HP
contrib site. It would not compile anything.
4. Building the gnu c compiler from source using the native c compiler.
Didn't work.

Henk tells me he is successfully using an HP 10.20 client on a HP 11
system. I thought I had tried that, but I cannot remember. I'll give that
another try.

Let me pose my question a different way. Has anyone successfully build and
successfully implemented an Amanda client for HPUX 11?

Thanks!

Andrew Robinson
