Hi,

I use Amanda with a Hexabyte DLT changer on a Linux backup server to backup a
Linux network. To recover in case of a crash we use a Systemimager server
that allows us to put a server on line in a very short amount of time and
restore the dat from amanda to easily get an image of the last machine backed
up.

Now we have installed a few Solaris servers we also have to backup.

No problems for all the data : i shall install an Amanda client on the Sun
servers and add them to my disk list.

But what about the system ? What i would like is the advice of some of you
who backup Sun servers : what do you have ready to put your servers back
online in case of a disaster ? Do you think i'd earn time to backup the
system and bootsector and so on (as recommended in Unix Backup and Recovery)
or should it be more easy to reinstall before restauring the config ? What
good and bad about the one and the other ?

Thank you.

Dexter
