Hi all datakeepers,

I'm sorry to ask something that has sure already been asked before, but i
cannot access to the list archives on ftp://ftp.amanda.org (first question :
how can i check the list archives? :^) )

My problem is : i use amanda to backup a Linux network - Linux is also
installed on the backup server. The amanda version i use is Amanda version
2.4.1p1 on Debian Potato. I got a large disklist and most hosts dont make any
problem. But i cannot backup localhost : i dont see anything wrong in the
logs except in amdump .

amdump contains :

setting up estimates for backup:/etc
backup:/etc overdue 9 days for level 0
setup_estimate: backup:/etc: command 0, options:
    last_level 1 next_level0 -9 level_days 5
    getting estimates 0 (3129) 1 (82) -1 (-1)
setting up estimates for backup:/var/local/netapp/
backup:/var/local/netapp/ overdue 9 days for level 0
setup_estimate: backup:/var/local/netapp/: command 0, options:
    last_level 1 next_level0 -9 level_days 5
    getting estimates 0 (133) 1 (119) -1 (-1)
setting up estimates for backup:/var/spool/backup
backup:/var/spool/backup overdue 9 days for level 0
setup_estimate: backup:/var/spool/backup: command 0, options:
    last_level 1 next_level0 -9 level_days 5
    getting estimates 0 (28282932) 1 (4140) -1 (-1)
setting up estimates for backup:/usr/local
backup:/usr/local overdue 11464 days for level 0
setup_estimate: backup:/usr/local: command 0, options:
    last_level -1 next_level0 -11464 level_days 0
    getting estimates 0 (0) -1 (-1) -1 (-1)

Further in the same file :
error result for host backup disk /usr/local: Request to backup timed out.
error result for host backup disk /var/spool/backup: Request to backup timed
out.
error result for host backup disk /var/local/netapp/: Request to backup timed

getting estimates took 6300.721 secs

And of course, in the report :

localhost /var/local/netapp/ lev 0 FAILED [Request to localhost timed out.]
localhost /etc lev 0 FAILED [Request to localhost timed out.]

Once the dumps are done, i always have a tar still running and using my
processor that never terminates, whose father is amandad.

I checked my firewall rules - the ports are not blocked.

I dont see what exactly, but something is going wrong and i have to solve
this problem - has anybody an idea ?

Thanks.

Dexter
