Hi all,

I'm new to Amanda and have a brand new config running. My backup server and
clients are Debian - i'm using Amanda 2.4.1p1 (precompiled for Debian).

Here's my problem :

I can without problem restore a backup on my backup server :

backup:/var/local/space/test# amrecover -C Normal -s backup.freegates.net -t
backup.freegates.net -d /dev/nst0
AMRECOVER Version 2.4.1p1. Contacting server on backup.freegates.net ...
220 backup AMANDA index server (2.4.1p1) ready.
200 Access OK
Setting restore date to today (2001-06-13)
200 Working date set to 2001-06-13.
200 Config set to Normal.
200 Dump host set to backup.
Can't determine disk and mount point from $CWD
amrecover> quit
200 Good bye.

But when trying to restore directly on a remote server (the backup client), i
get the following :

baseinstall3:/tmp/amanda# amrecover -C Normal -s backup.freegates.net -t
backup.freegates.net -d /dev/nst0
AMRECOVER Version 2.4.1p1. Contacting server on backup.freegates.net ...
amrecover: Error connecting to server: Invalid argument

My backup user is backup. In /var/backups/.amandahosts (server side), i have
(EA) :

webu4 root
webu4 backup
webu4.freegates.net root
webu4.freegates.net backup

(i'm trying to restore as root)

Here is what i find in (client):/tmp/amanda/amrecover.debug

amrecover: debug 1 pid 643 ruid 0 euid 0 start time Wed Jun 13 10:59:17 2001
Error connecting to server
amrecover: pid 643 finish time Wed Jun 13 10:59:17 2001

In my syslog (backup server side) i cannot see anything showing that webu3
tried to connect to backup.

Has anybody an idea of what i could do to fix this problem ? Do you need
other infos to help me ? Where can i find them ?

Thanks a lot !

Dexter
