You could change the code to do this if you're using GNU tar, but I
can't think of any good reason to. You could even end up with "loops"
that would dump forever.

You can use setdisk in amrecover to switch to the other disk (what the
symlink points to).
What do you mean by "the data is not getting backup up"? You need to
have that disk in the disklist file to get it backed up.

Hard links between directories are a very dangerous thing. Only root
can create them, and they should be done with great care to avoid
creating loops.
