One common cause for this is the estimate timeout in amanda.conf is
not large enough. What are the first few and last few lines of the
/tmp/amanda/sendsize*debug file on the client?
Compute how long it took to do the estimates. Then divide that by the
number of disks. Fudge that up quite a bit and see if setting etimeout
to that makes this work.
