I meant flex (and bison, etc) doesn't need any special privileges, so can be installed anyplace (like your home directory), at least long enough to get Amanda built. Nobody even needs to know ... :-). Speaking of which, do you have a real C compiler on that machine? The one Solaris ships in /usr/ucb/cc won't cut it. I use GNU make because it's required for development, but that might bite you, too. I forget if the stock Solaris make works with autoconf generated stuff.
