You said it all, reliability. When you NEED the backup, then you must
be able to trust your tapes, and be sure that files are there and
readable...
Any other consideration come second.
I am very happy with SLR myself (another linear technoligy). And I
could check that the transfer rate that is advertised can be really
achieved in running condition.
