let me give this one a shot:
first, make sure that the "amanda" account on the remote system (if that's
what you're using) has an .amandahosts file in its home directory with the
server host/user in it.
second, make sure (on the remote host) that you make the necessary changes
to /etc/hosts.allow and/or /etc/hosts.deny to allow access from the amanda
server to the client (remote host).
