Hi.
running amanda w/ gnu tar , on solaris 2.6
problem: w. gnu tar 1.12 we were unable to backup files > 2 gig.
Fix: installed latest (1.13.19) version of gnu tar from alpha.gnu.org
now: our exclude.gtar doesnt work properly, i.e. if we are backing up
filesystem w mount point: /fs
then an entry like /fs/somedirectory is not excluded.
I have seen on the amanda-patches page that there are problems with gnu
tar 1.13
" with exclude patterns and restoring"
so I am wondering:
1) can anyone enlighten me more precisely as to what the exact bugs with
exclude patterns are... perhaps we can change what we put in the
exclude file to get it to work
2) I am a bit concerned about "problems with restoring" , as they say
"It doesnt matter how much you backup, if you cant restore :)" does
anyone have more specifics on this?
3) If there are showstopper problems with 1.13, then perhaps someone has
patches to 1.12 to get it to backup files > 2 gig on solaris 2.6
(actually we should be going to solaris 8 soon)
I heard reference to such patches, but search as I might couldnt find
them anywhere to download.
Thanks
