It should be in the amanda.conf file. If not, you can find it with the 
tapetype program.
To use it, go in the amanda directory (the one extracted from the tar) 
and into  tape-src.
Then do:
#make tapetype
and you will obtain an executable "tapetype" that will give you your 
tape caracteristics. To know how to use it:
#./tapetype -h

But this is really, really, really long..... Just did it and it took 4 
hours...
