According to my reading of the code and some testing, yes, it should
have been enough.

You might want to run "amadmin <config> disklist <host> <disk>" and see
if "index" (and "record") is "yes".

My guess is something else is wrong. Note the following:

  Uncompress command: /bin/gzip -dc '/var/amanda/daily/index/mit/_opv_rnd/20010712
  f /var/amanda/daily/index/mit/_opv_rnd/20010712_1

This says it only found one index file for disk "/opt/rnd" and host "mit".
But the only index it found was for a level 1 (the trailing "_1" in
the name). The next error:

500 "/" is an invalid directory

is saying it could not find a level 0 (full) dump to go along with this.

Earlier, it also said:

  > DISK /opv/rnd
  - 2001-07-12 1 daily6 23
  - 2001-07-11 1 daily5 23
  - 2001-07-10 1 daily4 30
  - 2001-07-09 1 daily3 29
  - 2001-07-05 1 daily2 23
  - 2001-07-04 1 daily1 57
  - 2001-07-03 1 daily1 22
  - 2001-07-02 1 daily8 55
  - 2001-06-28 1 daily8 22
  - 2001-06-27 1 daily7 23

This is another indication that you only have level 1 backups of this
disk. This is a list of all the dumps Amanda knows about for this
client/disk and the "1" after each date is the level.

Any idea why that is?
