Disk Not Found Error

When ever I run amcheck I get the following error:

ERROR: wildcat: [can not access hdb1 (hdb1): No such file or directory]

In my disklist file if I put a "/" instead of the device name amcheck runs
fine, but when I run amdump and try and back up the device I get the
following error message:

wildcat / lev 0 FAILED [disk / offline on wildcat?]

Any ideas?
