What version?

Normally that means the image went to the holding disk but didn't make it
to tape for some reason.  That matches the "out of tape" error you saw,
but doesn't explain why you don't have the holding disk image.

Find the 20010803 amdump.<NN> file, then search for /mydisks/shemesh07.
Was it backed up with FILE-DUMP or PORT-DUMP?

Any chance there was file system damage in the holding disk and those
images were lost, i.e. fsck nuked them?  Or that something else went
around and cleaned them out?  For instance, if you put your holding area
in /tmp a boot time step might clear out /tmp.
