I don't have first-hand knowledge about this particular changer, but I'm
fairly confident that it will work with FreeBSD 4.x (you may want to contact
the FreeBSD mailing lists for a more definitive answer). It looks like the
unit uses 2 LUNs on one SCSI ID -- a situation that FreeBSD should handle.
You will probably need to recompile the kernel to support the changer
device since the GENERIC kernel installed by default does not include SCSI
changer support. Look in /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/LINT and "man 4 ch"
for information about the changer driver.
After installing the autoloader but before trying to get Amanda working,
I suggest that you make sure everything works with the built-in tools.
Give "chio" and "mt" a good working over, trying everything out and
seeing what the changer is capable of.
You should also try to get the very latest amanda-242-branch sources from
anonymous CVS. Recent development on the chg-scsi amanda tape changer has
made it very much more friendly towards FreeBSD.
Even if none of the changer scripts/programs that come with Amanda work for
you, it's REALLY easy to write one that will if the native tools talk to the
changer. Amanda doesn't expect much at all from a basic changer script and
whipping up something to deal with an autoloader should be a snap.
