Subject: amrecover & index issues
Hello,
I am try to recover some files, however I am not able to as I am having a
problem with the indexing. I have read the FAW/mailing search, and have
answered all questions that I found in them. Sorry about the length of
this email, however I though that I should include all relevant
information.
define dumptype incremental {
comment "General Data Backup"
priority medium
program "GNUTAR"
compress client fast
index yes
record yes
}
I read about problems with gnu tar, so I upgraded gnu tar:
filaxo# gtar --version
tar (GNU tar) 1.13.22
[banner cut]
filaxo# tar --version
GNU tar version 1.11.2
I know that Amanda is Indexing:
filaxo# la /usr/adm/amanda/index/www.esc.net.au/_etc/
[cut]
-rw------- 1 amanda amanda 1117 Nov 12 01:08 20011112_0.gz
-rw------- 1 amanda amanda 130 Nov 14 01:53 20011114_1.gz
-rw------- 1 root amanda 1117 Nov 15 03:23 20011115_0.gz
-rw------- 1 root amanda 130 Nov 16 03:44 20011116_1.gz
the above permissions were manually set as amanda, when I thought I would
try different things to try and get it working.
The index file seems valid:
filaxo# gzcat /usr/adm/amanda/index/www.esc.net.au/_etc/20011116_1.gz|less
/
[some items cut]
/ssh/
/ssl/
/uucp/
/amandates
/ntp.drift
Amanda is compiled with user=amanda, and group=amanda. The inetd server
runs the amanda programs as amanda, eg:
amanda dgram udp wait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amandad amandad
amidxtape stream tcp nowait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amidxtaped amidxtaped
amandaidx stream tcp nowait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amindexd amindexd
Here is a sample amrecover run....
filaxo# amrecover incremental
