We need more info if you really want HELP!!!!:

server os, version, amanda version?
client os, version, amanda version?

are you able to ping intel1 from the server?

are you able to run amandad from the command line on the client as the user
that will be running it via inetd/xinetd? It should sit there for about 20
secs, then return.

have you added amandad to inetd/xinetd on the client and restarted
inetd/xinetd?

when you attempt to connect to the client (i.e., during amcheck) does
inetd/xinetd produce any log messages?

exactly what message is returned from amcheck?

is there anything in /tmp/amanda on the client?
