That sounds extrange to me. I am new to amanda, but I have been testing
the program for two days now and I am backing up specific directories in
all my servers without any problem. I back up /etc and /usr/local and
/home in one server and /var and /etc and /home in another server all with
the default dump utility and everything seems to be working fine, without
error messages. And I have also recover files from all the directories
without problem. And they are certanly not full file systems.

I do not have and answer for Travis question, but I think that there must
be another answer, at least for RedHat 6.2.

Sorry if I can not say more. Cheers Ana Maria
