I'm setting up a Linux client for the first time (the rest are solaris
and aix). I want to back up just one partition from this client.

brw-rw---- 1 root disk 9, 2 Aug 3 12:20 /dev/md2

groups amanda
amanda : disk

-rw-rw-r-- 1 root disk 0 Feb 14 2001 /etc/dumpdates

Yet amcheck returns:

ERROR: tetris: [could not access /dev/md2 (/dev/md2): Permission denied]
ERROR: tetris: [can not read/write /etc/dumpdates: Permission denied]

The actual ownership on the mounted file system is:

drwxr-xr-x 11 root root 4096 Oct 9 11:16 /home

So I don't believe that should block it. Can anyone tell me what I am
missing?
