Hi Thomas!

Very excited. I've got my backup device working.

Seems like my case is a classic case of misconfiguration. There is a 
mistake in my changer.conf file.

My old changer.conf file
...
drivenum 1
...

My new changer.conf file
...
drivenum 0
...

And it works like a charm, even with the orginal amanda-2.4.2p2 package 
(without any stuff from CVS).
