I don't see at *all* how installing amanda would cause that. Random processes seg-faulting often means hardware trouble, oftentimes bad memory or too much heat. Try some other somewhat intensive programs (e.g. build a kernel with 'make -j4') and see if those complete successfully. -- Joshua Baker-LePain Department of Biomedical Engineering Duke University
