John,
Just running the checklist...
did run the make install from root.
Not sure which switches I through yesterday but found that
/usr/local/sbin/amcheck had been owned by amanda rather than
root. Other suid programs where already correctly set (but
no longer sure if it was by myself or the installation).
For the record the executables are...
/usr/local/libexec/ calcsize
dumper
killgroup
planner
rundump
runtar
/usr/local/sbin/ amcheck
Not that we are utilizing all executables (we aren't for instance
using tar) nor at this point can I say this isn't SGI 6.5 specific.
Needed to g+w on /etc/dumpdates on all clients.
Needed to g+rw on /dev/rdsk/* on all clients.
Amcheck now runs correctly with only one remaining error message.
bali 8% /usr/local/sbin/amcheck bali
Amanda Tape Server Host Check
-----------------------------
ERROR: running as user "amanda" instead of "root"
Holding disk /usr1/amandawork: 10197064 KB disk space available, that's plenty
NOTE: skipping tape-writable test
Tape BALI11 label ok
Server check took 5.394 seconds
Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
ERROR: running as user "amanda" instead of "root"
Client check: 4 hosts checked in 0.092 seconds, 0 problems found
(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.2p2)
Last note. This configuration runs on IRIX 6.5.x client and server.
Running on Solaris (7 and up) we experienced no problems with the
--with-user=amanda --with-group=sys configuration.
I'm certain I have mixed architecture cleint/server configurations
as well but thought I'd get the single architecture ones done first.
thanks,
Brian
