(Starts like most people, ends up sounding a little too AAAish)

I am running a number of amanda servers at two locations quite
successfully (with probably one or two more coming on line shortly).
Overall Amanda is great! I have caught the attention of the NT admins
with some of its rich feature set, especially since they are looking at
'upgrading' the NT backup software and its more than the cost of a new
tape loader! Ouch!

One slightly annoying problem is the nightly report that I receive from
one server (the main head office one) has, what appears to be,
impossible time information. For example, last nights:

These dumps were to tape DLT1-0002_TCEnet_daily.

The next tape Amanda expects to use is: DLT1-0003_TCEnet_daily.

>From this report it appears that it took 19 hours for the dump to occur
- perhaps I'm a little confused what run time vs. dump time is. That
amount of time seems very unrealistic because the backup starts at 12:15
AM and the report was emailed to me an 6:41 AM (i.e. less than 19 hours
apart by a long shot).

The details:

Amanda server Compaq P II 350, 128 MB RAM, 8 GB holding disk (IDE),
Adaptec 2940UW, Overland LXL1B10 (10 slot, 1 DLT1 tape drive), running
Slackware 8.0 with patches.
Clients are various flavors of linux, Solaris and Tru64, dump formats
include xfsdump, dump (linux), ufsdump and tar. Most are being
compressed by clients (fast).
I am using a daily configuration that runs Mon-Fri with an archive
configuration running the last Friday of the month.
Also of note, this server has two nics, for two subnets where backup
clients live, this has helped by reducing the amount of routing to the
server quite significantly.

Next project is to integrate some of the Oracle scripts with Amanda. :)
