Yes (assuming you mean uncompressed).  I have the VXA-1 V17 tapetype set
at 40G.  It is rated at 66G.  It uses hardware compression.  I am
actually surprised it hits end-of-tape with my 40G estimate.  I have
lowered the tapetype length from 50G to 40G and I still hit EOT.

Please clarify for me:

. Does amanda try to limit what it puts on a tape to what it thinks will
  fit?  In my case to 40G?  ...based on the estimates phase?

What should I do to avoid hitting EOT?  I don't like to have to manually
flush files.
