Generally, u try the program. After a week of fustration, maybe then you think that you should have RTFM first. But so far neither method is doing me tooo muuuucccccchhhhhhh gggggggoooooooodddddddddddd. One might say that I can tar out the 69gb much faster with a simpler tar. Eventually i will find the 'key' to your methods of madness, and i will be content.

The send-backup gets an idle timeout ( which from the log is ~1802 seconds ) which is surprising in that it idle'd for a half hour - i suspect something is amiss, but i'm not at that part of the manual yet. :-/
