Both messages (as I recall) mean the task of gathering estimates failed for some reason. Did you run "amcheck -c <config>"? That's always the first thing to try when anything bad starts happening. If that doesn't help, look on vitsika in /tmp/amanda for a debug file named sendsize*debug (ditto for "localhost").
