Are the clients Unix or Windows? Amanda can request that the backup software it runs do incrementals in either case, although the Windows incrementals are always "level 1", i.e. everything changed since the full dump. The current stable Amanda release (2.4.2p2) allows you to leave your dump images in the holding disk without writing them to tape.
