Do you have >an example of what goes in the configs to make this happen? ... My apologies. I wasn't clear. I was talking about things that could be done with 2.4 (and beyond). I don't know when the tape changer support went into Amanda (I started at 2.4 beta time myself). However, I just grabbed a copy of 2.3.0.4 and the support seems to be there along with docs/TAPE.CHANGERS that describes the protocol. It also has a chg-generic that I'm sure can be altered to do whatever is needed. Or you might grab a copy of 2.4.2p2 and look at the changers in there. Some of the newer features will not be supported, but I'm pretty sure anything 2.3 would ask of them they should be able to do. To trigger this, set tpchanger in amanda.conf to (e.g.) "chg-generic" and that should pretty much take care of it. Oh, and set runtapes to (e.g.) 2 so it will use more than one tape. Then taper will call the script whenever it runs into an error (such as end of tape). John R. Jackson, Technical Software Specialist, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
