It looks like you need to use tar instead of dump, seems like your dump
doesn't like to write dumpdates when backing up just a directory of your
filesystem (check its manpage, it might have an option not to use
dumpdates, I think you are using -u here).  I have no idea how that
would affect amanda, but I guess it won't be able to correctly estimate
your backup size without this file.
