Hi,
I wanted to swap from dump to tar for my backups and figured if I'm going to
recompile amanda, I might as well upgrade from 2.4.1p1 to 2.4.2p2. I have
downloaded the 2.4.2p2 software, gnutar, gnupatch2.5 and the two patches
advfs and stream client for amanda 2.4.2p2. I am running amanda on two
servers and about 30 clients all tru64 boxes versions 4.0d- 4.0g.

I am having problems getting the patches in, regardless of all the
information in the mail archives I keep coming up with 2 errors. One tells
me the patch can't be located (o.k. so I changed the -p option a few times,
still can't figure out where it wants it) and the 2nd problem is:
# /usr/local/inst/gnu/patch-2.5/bin/patch -p1 < ../advfs.patch.dif
patching file `getfsent.h'
Hunk #1 FAILED at 54.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to getfsent.h.rej
patching file `getfsent.c'
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1.
Hunk #2 FAILED at 144.
Hunk #3 FAILED at 186.

Hunk #8 FAILED at 558.
Hunk #9 FAILED at 617.
Hunk #10 FAILED at 626.
10 out of 10 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to getfsent.c.rej

What am I doing wrong? Should the patch diff file be in the top level
directory or the directory where the src is (e.g. client-src, common-src)or
is this irrelevant depending on which -p parameter is used. What are all
these hunk failed messages?

Any help would be appreciated, I've been playing with this for a few days
now and am getting pretty frustrated with what may be my own stupidity.

Regards, John
